Ethanolsites.com was created for site selectors looking for suitable sites to build ethanol (or other biofuel) plants.
A community is considered "ethanol ready" if they have:
- A controlled site, including price, consisting of a minimum of 100 acres with all utilities (or a written plan describing how the community will extend utilities to the site including a timeline and financing.)
- Corn price history and corn availability within 40 miles of the site.
- Documentation on the local market for distiller grains.
- Community support for attracting an ethanol plant.
- Local and state financial incentive information.
The Nebraska Ethanol Board has reviewed each site. In addition, the Nebraska Department of Environmental Quality (NDEQ) is aware that the sites are being marketed to ethanol prospects. A final determination of the environmental suitability of the site is contingent upon the design and size of the facility. The NDEQ has established a One-Stop Permit Assistance Program to assist permit applicants in understanding the applicability of related regulations.
